Default PvP Ranger vs. Assassin

Ive always struggled with assassins for some reason. In every build I play, their shadow steps and ganks tear me to shreds. My question is, what are some good skills for a R/A that can easily reverse that shred tearing back on them?

natural stride and d-shot

if they're wastrel's natural stride once you get kd. Otherwise, d-shot their lead and laugh at them.

Melandru's Shot has always fixed that problem for me. They cant hit you if they cant reach you.

Yeah pretty much what he said. I always go to gank someone, get my lead dshot, and then i find im just sitting there hitting for 0-20 damage waiting for my lead to recharge ¬_¬

Exactly what Keekles said.

I want to add ways to counter an assassin using his blocking skills:

1. Flashing Blades - Just keep your distance from him. Kite, attack, kite, attack, etc. If he uses a shadow step then you should use Natural Stride to kite and do the above.

2. Critical Defenses - Same as Flashing Blades just for a different reason. So the sin won't be able to refresh it via critical strikes.

3. Shroud of Distress - Nothing you can do except from interrupting it.

Let me tell you this from the point of view of someone who loves the Assassin class, plays them often in low-end PvP and in PvE I've pretty completed every mission with it, being my main.

as far as PvP concerns, Rangers > Assassins.

Haha, most of the time I have absolutely no problem with sins in low-end PvP. They seem to always charge at me in a straight line, allowing me to poison, bleed, and cripple them in one attack.

After that, just run circles around them, interrupt their attacks and you will win quite easily. I usually take Whirling Defense so even if they get up to me, they'll be missing most of the time. Allows me to throw up Troll Unguent and laugh as I pew pew them to death

Burning Arrow, Pin Down, any poison or bleeding shot, maybe an interrupt or two for fun

watch them limp toward you or try to flee, slowly dying

if they happen to get in touch range, whirling defense and throw dirt.

Now they are loaded with conditions, have very low health, and they're incapable of hitting you because they're blinded and you're stanced

It's not just the skill bar, it's knowing the timing of your skills and keeping your distance.

That being said, when I play a ranger with that setup, I play with sins like a cat toy.

I was challenged to a one on one pvp battle with a guidie who has a sin.

I died but stayed alive for a long time using Crippling, poison arrow, and D-shot mostly.

stick a needling shot on your bar...at high expertise it costs 2e to use and recharges instantly, hitting for +26 (at 12 marks)...with a zealous bow it's a constant damage output on an already crippled, blinded, poisoned, <50% health sin...you should be wagering on this...easy money for you! lol

hell, you could even mix it up and go R/D escape scythe, R/P imba-pet, R/Rt spirit spammer...all of these would make short work of a sin

Needling shot hits for 26 damage, not for +26 damage :S

"+" as in 0+26 damage....so +26 damage...either way point is quick, easy, spammable damage intended to finish off the already helpless sin

ty for the "correction" though
